Under Armour Curry 4 "MBK Alliance"
Later tonight in the nation's capital, Stephen Curry plans to wear a customized edition of his signature Under Armour Curry 4, honoring his longtime friendship with President Obama and the 44th President's "My Brother's Keeper" Alliance.Founded in 2014, Curry has been a constant presence with the organization and its efforts to reach young men of color around the country through mentorship and community events. After appearing in PSAs and working with Barack's cause, now he's looking to generate even more awareness and funding. Curry plans to auction the sneakers off after tonight's Warriors game against the Washington Wizards, with proceeds benefiting the MBK Alliance.
It's no secret that Steph Curry and former President Obama share a rather special relationship. The two grew a friendly relationship back in the good ol' days (pre-Trump era) that couldn't be denied. There was that amazing time star athlete Obama helped NBA champ Curry with his jumpshot— (yes, you read that correctly), that hilarious meet-up with Michelle Obama and the Currys (Ayesha and Steph) for a sing-along to the 'Banana' song, and some traditionally shared trash-talking on the golf course. What are best buds made of?
The sneakers were designed in collaboration with MBK Alliance, as well as Dez Customz and Kreative Custom Kicks. It features the organization's logo, and a script (around the toes) of one of Obama's most popular quotes which was given in a speech for his National MBK Summit:
“Because ensuring that our young people can go as far as their dreams and hard work will take them is the single most important task that we have as a nation. It is the single most important thing we can do for our country's future.”
